In the 2025/26 season, Bilal Alnemr will appear as soloist in Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 at the Große Saal of the Berliner Philharmonie and play chamber music at the Opera de Bordeaux with Elena Bashkirova & friends.
Earlier Bilal made his debut with the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien under the baton of Thomas Zehetmair, a performance recorded for the “Next Generation Mozart Soloists” CD, sponsored by the Orpheum Foundation. He was also invited to the Krzyżowa Music Festival in Poland, a TED Talk in Berlin, and the European Conference for Human Rights in Norway.
Bilal’s professional career began at the age of sixteen and has included collaborations with renowned artists such as Renaud Capuçon, Hélène Grimaud, Barbara Hendricks and Daniel Barenboim.
As a versatile musician, Bilal regularly performs with the Boulez Ensemble in Berlin and the ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris. Since 2018, he has been a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, touring internationally over the past seven years.
Beyond the concert stage, Franco-Syrian violinist Bilal Alnemr is deeply committed to cultural dialogue through music. In 2022 he founded the Vauvenargues Festival, an international summer event uniting musicians from the Middle East and Europe, which will celebrate its fourth edition in 2026. He also launched Les Cordes de Shams – Music and intercultural dialogue, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering artistic exchange between Syria, France, and beyond.
Born in Damascus in July 1996, Bilal Alnemr discovered his passion for the violin with a toy instrument gifted by his father. Teaching himself with only a DVD, his talent quickly blossomed. At the age of 11, Bilal won the Syrian National Violin Competition and later the prestigious Solhi Al-Wadi Competition. His growing acclaim led to performances in India, Russia, Qatar, Jordan, and Lebanon. After participating in the Mediterranean cultural exchange program ECUME, Bilal joined without his family at the age of twelve the Conservatory of Aix-en-Provence. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) in 2017, where he studied under Roland Daugareil and Olivier Charlier. To further refine his artistry, he joined the Barenboïm-Saïd Academy in Berlin, training with Daniel Barenboim, Michaela Martin and Michael Barenboim.
